Visiting Practitioner : Amy Cutler

Our guest lecturer this week was Amy Cutler who is a sound artist, composer, and live cinema designer. She works with a myriad of analogue and digital instruments, from rain gauges, clock chimes and storm glasses. She a background in Experimental geography and has a PhD this has led to her having an interest in Foley and fieldwork as its a merger of the two practices.

In the lecture she brings up the topic of Pathetic fallacy as she talks about her work as a researcher and how it can applied in her multimedia installations. She goes into the way her own personal experiences with the supernatural contributed to some of her research as she had recorded witch ceremonies. his then lead into her expressing how perspective is important for the sound works she makes as she uses lots of sampling in her work.
